Saint Robert Bellarmine, an Italian Catholic Cardinal from the 16th Century, is the eponym of Bellarmine College Prep located in San Jose's College Park neighborhood.
This hidden gem of high school attracts Silicon Valley's top high school males. The $18k a year tuition hasn't dissuaded the 2/3rd of applicants the school turns away each year.
While some of the boys graduate from the neighborhood St Leo & St Martin schools, most of the students commute into our neighborhood. Bellarmine even has their own College Park CalTrain station for kids that live as far away as San Francisco.
If you walk the grounds of the campus you'll find this statue dedicated to their Jesuit namesake and his quote "If you want to be an image of God, you have to love wisdom and justice above all."
In a nod to Gailelo I'm glad they had the sense to put Bellarmine's statue in front of the theatre and arts building and not the science one!
